I have always had a life-long fascination for Africa and have travelled the continent widely. It’s beautiful, but it’s mainly the people who keep me coming back.
As an art historian I love to tell real stories about real people and share experiences. However, over the years I have noticed that many people have stereotypical ideas about Africa and contemporary African art.
My goal is to confront these stereotypes and create a broader awareness about Africa’s diversity. That’s why I’ve set up Urban Africans where you catch a glimpse of the diversity of everyday city life through the eyes of artists on the African continent. These urban African artists are not afraid to challenge assumptions and conventions and live their lives to the full.
